The Rialto Pacific Electric Trail Expansion Feasibility Study (Feasibility Study) will assess different alternatives for extending the Pacific Electric Trail from its current terminus at Cactus Avenue to the eastern boundary of the City of Rialto at Pepper Avenue. The extended trail will run through a disadvantaged community that is impacted by inequities based on income, health, and quality of the environment.
Once complete, the trail will finish the Pacific Electric Inland Empire Trail with a 21-mile long multi-use path running east to west from Rialto to Claremont.
The completed Pacific Electric Inland Empire Trail will transform options for Inland Empire residents to choose active modes of travel to parks and recreation, schools, employment centers, and other transportation needs such as groceries and healthcare.
In addition to determining the availability of right-of-way along the proposed rail route, addressing current use of the corridor that is incompatible with or obstructs the development of the multi-use trail, and assessing the safety concerns of sitting near an active rail line, the Feasibility Study will include feedback from community stakeholders, so that the recommended alternatives reflect community needs, opportunities, and benefits including improved mobility, health, and wellness.
