An important part of preventative street maintenance is to install a slurry seal over the existing street pavement. A slurry seal is a mixture of oil, sand, and water, which acts to rejuvenate the existing asphalt pavement, extending the life of the street for up to at least five years. The City Council awarded the slurry seal contract to Pavement Coatings Company for $1.4 Million. This year's slurry seal project started construction in Zone 4 improving 29 miles of local streets.
